COUNTRY-CODE TOP LEVEL DOMAIN (CCTLD)

Liberia’s Country Code Top-Level Domain (.lr), is a national internet resource unique to Liberia and thus should be made accessible for use by all residents, businesses, government entities, and academia, to the benefit of the ICT sector and society. Liberia (.lr) top level domain is currently being managed a privately-owned company, Data Technology but reforms are underway to re-delegate management responsibility to a local multi-stakeholder body that is inclusive of key national stakeholders.

The government ICT Policy of 2019-2024 calls for reforms that would bring greater transparency and effectiveness to the .lr ccTLD management thus improving its accessibility andoverall use, and enhancing Liberia’s online presence in the global digital space. The LTA has developed the policy and regulatory instruments needed to implement the reforms and achieve the objectives envisioned by the ICT Policy. The framework instruments seek to restore national ownership of the .lr ccTLD, localize its management and ensure public access and greater use of the .lr ccTLD. LTA would be conducting public consultation and collaborating with ICT sector players, civil society and academia on the following framework instruments:

1. National Policy Framework for .lr country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD).
2. Regulations for the Re-delegation, Management and Operations of Liberia ccTLD.
