Istanbul, Türkiye – November 15, 2024 Acting Commissioner Angela Cassell Bush of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) represented Liberia at the 81st Annual General Meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), held in Istanbul, Türkiye. This prestigious global event convened key stakeholders from across the world to deliberate on vital issues surrounding Internet governance through workshops, forums, and policy discussions. 

During the meeting, Commissioner Bush actively engaged with ICANN leadership and international Internet stakeholders to address Liberia’s unique challenges in Internet governance. She emphasized the need for collaborative approaches to enhance Liberia’s digital infrastructure and foster a stronger online ecosystem.

A noteworthy moment of the conference was Commissioner Bush’s interaction with Dr. Catherine Adeya, the only African female member of the ICANN Board. Bush praised Dr. Adeya for her groundbreaking contributions and lauded her as an inspiring figure for women in technology worldwide.

 Commissioner Bush also championed initiatives focused on building local capacity in Liberia, particularly for youth involved in the Internet and technology sectors. She stressed the importance of forging long-term partnerships with ICANN to strengthen Internet governance and ensure a secure, inclusive digital environment for all Liberians.
