LTA's Acting Chairperson Champions Liberia's Telecom Future at WTSA 24 in New Delhi
The Acting Chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Hon. Abdullah L. Kamara, has advocated for Liberia’s active engagement in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to boost the country’s telecommunications sector. During a meeting with ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan Martin on October 22, 2024, Mr. Kamara stressed the need to participate early in ITU activities to shape critical decisions. He discussed initiatives like President Boakai’s Digital Transformation Project, which has trained over 10,000 youth in digital skills, and sought support for a robust training framework.
Their Discussions also covered project financing, regulatory policies, and infrastructure challenges in the telecommunications field, with a focus on e-government initiatives intended to improve public service access. Additionally, the LTA Acting Chairperson met with Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava from the ITU, where they highlighted the recent licensing of Starlink to improve connectivity in remote areas, addressing the digital divide.
